Beacon Wines Logo - The Story

The First Fleet in 1788 brought the first vine cutting to the shores of Australia from the Cape of Good Hope, South Africa. In 1822 Gregory Blaxland set out to export Australian wine to the world and was the first winemaker to win an overseas award.

Classic grape varieties from France and Spain were introduced in 1833. The quality of Australian wine was much improved by early European settlers, who used their knowledge and winemaking skills to establish some of Australia's premier wine regions.

As master of wine, Jancis Robinson stated no wine producing country has come so far, so fast, ever! Australia's impact both in terms of volumes of wine exported and technical influence is unparalleled!

Today, Beacon reflects the pioneers of the new world, we set out to explore, discover and create wines of style, purity, quality and present diversity from unique regions of South East Australia.

The Beacon symbol is an intentionally conspicuous device designed to attract attention and encompasses the first vine to reach this magnificent landscape.

Beacon is brilliant, radiant and spectacular, our light shines far afield and is clearly seen from a distance. Follow this gleaming light and you will encounter an astounding range of fine assortment of Australian wine.
