Terra Rossa Icon Barossa Shiraz

Brand: Terra Rossa

The Wine
The colour is deep garnet red with complex aromas of dark chocolate, all spice and plums.  On the palate the wine is rich and full bodied; showing generous dark fruit, seamless oak integration, long ripe tannins and some complex earthy notes on the finish. Powerful, yet refined, with great structure and length.

The Grapes
The fruit was sourced from the Barossa, Australia‚Äôs most renowned wine region.  The region has a continental climate with lots of sunshine hours, warm days and cool nights, low humidity and rainfall.  These conditions are conducive to producing full bodied Barossa Shiraz that is world famous.

The Winemaking
2009 was a very good vintage.  Good early summer rainfall followed by warm-hot and dry conditions during berry ripening, produced grapes with great colour and flavour.  The fruit was perfectly ripe when picked at 14.0o Baume.  After crushing into open vats the wine was fermented on skins until dry. After 7 days on skins the must was pressed and then racked to barrels for maturation.  After maturation the wine was carefully blended and bottled.
